Gurpreet joined RPA in 2020. She has a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia focussing on shellfisheries. She has detailed knowledge of mixed methodologies (including: using spatial analytical tools, case study analysis, interviewing and running focus groups).
She has extensive public sector experience expanding across fisheries science (including ICES, seafaring and fisheries biology) and fisheries management and control (quota management, implementing both license capping and decommissioning policies). She has experience of policy making (including Ministerial private office), stakeholder engagement and negotiating UK fisheries quota with EU member states at EU Agri-Fish Council. She has presented her work at national and international meetings and conferences as well as the BBC’s Asian Network.
In her consultancy capacity, she has built a diverse portfolio working alongside public, private, academic and charitable partners to investigate context specific research questions. Her work interests include international development, natural resource management and anything related to fish!
Gurpreet grew up in Wolverhampton and London, and after many years of travelling internationally, studying and working in Minnesota, Cardiff and Sydney is now living in Norwich.
